How does the white blade finish differ from a standard katana?
Updated Mar 2026
A standard katana typically displays a grey or silver polished finish reflecting the natural color of carbon steel. The white blade aesthetic seen in this collection is achieved through an extended polishing process using finer abrasive progressions that bring the steel surface to a brighter, more reflective state. In some pieces, the geometry of the blade grind itself is adjusted to catch light differently than a traditional shinogi-zukuri katana. The white saya and matching white fittings are also deliberately coordinated to reinforce the monochromatic visual theme inspired by the Bleach character designs, creating a display piece with a unified, dramatic presentation.
