How should I store and maintain a Zangetsu display replica?

High-carbon steel blades, including the 1045-1065 variants in this collection, require routine maintenance to prevent oxidation and surface rust, particularly in humid environments. Apply a thin coat of camellia oil or mineral oil to the blade every one to three months using a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the base toward the tip in single strokes. When storing in the saya (scabbard), avoid leaving the blade sheathed for extended periods in high-humidity conditions - lacquered wood saya can trap moisture against the steel surface. For display outside the saya, a horizontal wall mount away from direct sunlight and heat sources is ideal. The white lacquer on Sode no Shirayuki and Nozarashi saya should be wiped clean with a dry cloth only; solvent-based cleaners can dull or crack lacquer finishes over time.
