- Blade: the blade is made of 1095 high carbon steel and heat treated to around 60 hrc for good hardness and edge retention. it follows the graceful curvature of wartime gunto blades and has a chrome-polished finish without a hamon. the full tang runs through the handle for strength and stability.
- Handle (tsuka): true to the original nco swords, the handle is cast metal with a molded wrap pattern in a bronze tone, topped with a military-style pommel cap (kabuto-gane). the handle is permanently secured to the blade with adhesive inside, so it is very solid and stable. please note: this sword cannot be disassembled.
- Guard & fittings: a copper guard (tsuba) with a plain, military-regulation profile, paired with a brass habaki stamped with the type 98 marking. a scabbard locking clip near the guard keeps the blade securely in the saya.
- Scabbard (saya): the scabbard is made of iron with an olive-green painted finish, recreating the field-green look of wwii military scabbards. it features a single brass suspension ring and a protective metal chape at the tip.
- Overall length of 20.5 inches with a 12.5-inch nagasa and 6.3-inch tsuka, weighing 1.5 lbs for balanced handling and display presence.
