Product Details

The blade of this katana is forged from folded damascus steel, producing visible layered grain patterns across the full 29-inch nagasa. The folding process creates a distinctive purple-toned finish that shifts under light, with a clean hamon line separating the hardened edge from the body. Hardened to 58 HRC, the steel holds a refined edge while maintaining flexibility through the spine.

A 10.25-inch tsuka provides generous two-handed grip space, wrapped in black cotton cord over genuine white samegawa. The traditional tsukamaki binding creates the diamond pattern visible along the handle, with the rayskin texture adding both grip and visual contrast beneath the wrapping. This Damascus Katana follows time-tested construction methods for its full tang assembly.

The gold-tone alloy tsuba is the visual centerpiece of the fittings, featuring a deeply sculpted dragon in high relief. The dragon coils across the circular guard with detailed scales, claws, and flowing whiskers, all framed by a polished gold rim. Copper-toned fuchi and kashira cap each end of the handle with engraved scrollwork that complements the tsuba theme.

The 29.5-inch hardwood saya stands out with its black lacquer base covered in fine red speckle patterning, creating a galaxy-like texture across the entire scabbard surface. A black braided sageo is tied at the kurikata with a gold-accented fitting, and the koiguchi provides a snug fit for the blade. The red speckle finish pairs naturally with the purple tones of the blade for a cohesive dark color palette.

At 41 inches overall and 4.4 lbs, this Damascus Steel Sword carries the proportions and weight of a traditional katana. The combination of folded steel craftsmanship, dragon-motif fittings, and lacquered saya makes it a detailed collector piece suited for stand display or themed collections.

They never gave me a shipping date so it showed up with out me knowing, but was packaged well could be sharper in spots on the blade but looks to be decent quality workmanship. Already bought a second one different style.

I was surprised by just how nice this sword is. When you buy a handmade sword for under $300, you're not expecting to use it fighting other immortals for their power, but I was actually blown away by how well it is made. The purple color of the Damascus blade is beautiful. It was way sharper than I expected it to be. The detail of the engravings and hand guard is perfect. The sword fits securely within the sheath, which is also very nice and the wrapping on the handle is tight and the spacing is very even in the cord. While my intention for this was a wall mounted display, I have found myself handling this sword way more than I expected. Shipping was lighting fast, I think about 4-5 days from order until it arrived. I will be buying my next TrueKatana soon!

Came in great condition and in a relatively short amount of time. Great quality. However I ordered a second sword and when it came the sheath was cracked and it didn’t have the right symbol at the base of the blade.

Nice sword, good quality. Shows up oiled and sharp. The first time I ordered I received an incorrect item, however with some contact with customer service they were friendly, easy to deal with and made it right.
