Product Details
The blade is forged from folded Damascus steel, producing the layered grain pattern visible along the body of the sword. A distinct hamon line runs the length of the blade, where the differential hardening process leaves a contrasting boundary between the hardened edge and the softer spine. The polished chrome finish amplifies the visual depth of the Damascus layering, making the blade itself the centerpiece of the piece.
The handle is constructed full-tang, with the blade steel extending through the entire length of the tsuka. Black PU samegawa (ray-skin wrap) forms the foundation, and black cotton ito is wound over it in a traditional diagonal cross pattern. Diamond-shaped white menuki accents are set beneath the cord wrap, catching attention at each visible gap in the binding.
The tsuba is cast from alloy in a circular open-work design carved with floral relief - painted white with fine detail in the cutwork. Seated against it is a gold-tone habaki, a rectangular collar with a honeycomb-textured surface that bridges the tsuba and the blade collar.
