Product Details

The blade on this katana is forged from folded Damascus steel, producing the characteristic layered grain pattern visible across the entire length of the nagasa. A purple finish runs from the base to the tip, shifting in tone as light catches the folded steel surface. The hamon line is present along the edge, marking the boundary between the hardened edge and the body of the blade. Nagasa length measures 28.3 in with an overall sword length of 40.5 in and a total weight of 3.17 lb. If you are exploring options in Damascus Steel Katana, this piece represents a strong entry point for the folded-steel aesthetic.

The tsuka is built on a full-tang core, meaning the blade steel extends the full length of the handle for structural integrity. The outer wrap uses black ito cord in a traditional diamond-pattern binding over genuine white samegawa (ray skin), which provides texture under the cord and a clean visual contrast between the dark wrap and the pale underlayer. Gold-tone fuchi and kashira fittings complete the handle assembly.

The tsuba is cast in a gold tone and features a lion relief design with deeply carved scrollwork surrounding the central motif. The openwork sections add visual depth, and the overall diameter is proportioned to balance the handle and blade lengths. This piece pairs well with others in the Forged Katana category for collectors building a koshirae-style display set.

The saya is crafted from natural hardwood and finished in a smooth beige lacquer that preserves the pale wood tone. The exterior is hand-painted with a dark-robed figure rendered in black ink-style brushwork against the natural background - a design detail that makes each saya visually distinct. A black sageo cord is fitted at the kurigata, matching the handle wrap and providing a cohesive black-and-natural color scheme across the full mounting.

This katana measures 40.5 in overall with a 10.2 in handle and ships at 4.4 lb including packaging. It is finished as a koshirae-style collectible piece. Sword stand is not included.
