Damascus Steel Yari Spear - Handcrafted Japanese Polearm, 82-Inch Chrome Staff, Narrow Spearhead

The four yari in this series share the same basic form - triangulated spearhead, long staff, leather saya - but diverge in the details that define how each one looks and handles. At 1.61 inches wide, this Damascus steel spearhead is the narrowest of the group. Compare that to the 2.08-inch width of the black staff manganese variant, and the visual difference is immediately apparent: a more elongated, streamlined silhouette that reads differently on the wall and in the hand.

Damascus steel - here forged by folding layers of high and low carbon alloy - brings visible grain patterns to a 11.41-inch spearhead running 0.28 inches thick. The folding process creates the characteristic flow lines across the surface, evidence of the smith's work that distinguishes pattern steel from a uniformly-ground single-alloy spearhead. The triangulated geometry is consistent with the series: three faces converging to the tip, with a deep fuller on the flat face that reduces cross-sectional mass without sacrificing the ridge structure.

The two-part chrome stainless steel staff breaks down into sections of 31.89 and 28.35 inches, assembling to the full 82.67-inch length. The chrome finish is the visual counterpoint to the Damascus spearhead - bright, polished stainless against the patterned matte of the folded steel. It's the heaviest configuration in the series at 6.26 lbs, a function of the stainless steel staff density.
