Damascus Steel Katana with Black Lacquer Dragon Saya - Silver-Gold Dragon Tsuba, Black Cord Handle

A distinct hamon line runs the length of the nagasa, tracing the boundary between edge and spine in the classic tradition of Japanese swordsmithing. The full-tang construction runs the steel through the entire tsuka, giving the piece solid structural integrity from tip to pommel.

The tsuka is wrapped in black ito cord using a tight diamond-pattern bind directly over real white samegawa ray skin. The contrast between the pale samegawa diamonds and the dark cord creates the visual rhythm characteristic of traditional koshirae construction. The fuchi and kashira hardware tie the handle assembly together in matching tones.

The tsuba is copper-based with gold and silver gilding, shaped in a rounded form with a dragon cast in high relief at the center.
