Yes, every real samurai katana in our collection ships with a hand-sharpened edge. The blade is ground and honed as part of the standard finishing process, consistent with how traditional Japanese swords were completed. The sharpened edge is an important quality indicator — it demonstrates that the blade has been properly ground to the correct geometry with appropriate bevels and an acute cutting edge. For display and handling, this means the blade should be treated with respect: grip only the handle, avoid touching the edge directly, and keep the katana in its saya when not on the display stand. The sharpened edge also means these pieces should be stored out of reach of children.
