What is the Yubashiri sword and what is its story in One Piece?
Updated Feb 2026
Yubashiri is one of the Wazamono-grade swords that Roronoa Zoro carried during the Water 7 and Enies Lobby arcs of One Piece. It was a white-finished katana known for its exceptional lightness and sharpness relative to its grade, and Zoro received it as a gift from Ipponmatsu after demonstrating his willingness to take the cursed Sandai Kitetsu. Yubashiri became part of Zoro's signature three-sword style alongside Wado Ichimonji and Sandai Kitetsu, appearing in many of the series' most memorable sword fights during this period. At Enies Lobby, Marine officer Shu used his rust-rust Devil Fruit power to destroy Yubashiri during the battle, and Zoro mourned its loss with genuine solemnity - a moment that highlighted the personal bond between a swordsman and his blades that runs throughout One Piece. Zoro later gave Yubashiri a proper burial at Thriller Bark, one of the series' most touching tributes to a lost sword.
