Product Details

This full tang katana features a 27.5-inch blade forged from 1060 manganese steel, hand-polished to a bright chrome finish and hardened to 58 HRC. The steel offers a balance of toughness and edge retention suited to a high-quality collectible replica. Each blade is individually finished to bring out a clean, reflective surface along the shinogi-ji and a defined edge line running the length of the kissaki.

The 13.8-inch tsuka is built on a hardwood core wrapped in authentic white rayskin, then bound with alternating red and black cotton ito in a traditional crosshatch pattern. The two-tone wrap is tight and even, creating a striking visual rhythm that also ensures a firm, textured grip. Dual bamboo mekugi pins secure the nakago within the handle for structural integrity.

A round gold-tone alloy tsuba sits between blade and handle, its surface covered in a fine crosshatch texture with a small ornamental motif near the rim. The gold finish pairs naturally with the warm white of the rayskin and provides a visual bridge between the dark handle wrapping and the polished steel above. The 30.2-inch hardwood saya is coated in a deep black piano lacquer that gives it a mirror-like gloss under light, with fine red streaks running diagonally across the surface. A vivid red sageo cord is knotted at the kurikata, and the koiguchi fits snugly to the habaki for a satisfying draw and seat. This saya style is also featured across our Black Leather Saya Japanese Samurai Swords selection.

At 44 inches overall and 2.65 lbs, this katana is proportioned for wall-mounted display or stand presentation. The red-and-black color scheme runs consistently from handle to saya, making it a cohesive display piece that balances bold color contrast with traditional Japanese sword silhouette and construction details.

Is the rayskin on the handle real or synthetic?

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he loves it! It's excellent craftsmanship, good weight, very sharp and perfect balance. I ordered it on 12/2 and received it on 12/10. My only complaint was the packaging. It was Styrofoam tapped all around. The packaging was open and destroyed when I received it, but the katana was in perfect condition. It was difficult to find away to wrap it up again without the box, but I made it work!
