Product Details

The blade on this katana is forged from 1045 carbon steel and put through a heat treatment and oil quench process that builds consistent hardness from tang to tip. The polished chrome surface reveals natural grain-like variation across the flat, and a visible hamon line traces the length of the edge - giving the blade real visual depth without the need for embellishment. The full tang construction runs through the entire handle assembly for solid structural integrity. This piece is part of our Blue 1045 Carbon Steel Katana collection.

The tsuka is built with a white PU samegawa base and wrapped in blue ito cord in the traditional diamond-window pattern. Gold menuki ornaments sit at each wrap opening, adding a warm metallic accent against the deep navy binding. The grip tapers naturally toward the kashira, offering a balanced hold whether mounted on a stand or handled directly.

The tsuba is cast in silver-tone alloy and features an open-work chrysanthemum motif with pierced petals radiating from a central gold-accented boss. Chrysanthemum imagery carries deep roots in Japanese court tradition, and the silver-gold contrast here makes the guard one of the most visually distinctive elements of the entire piece.

The saya is crafted from hardwood and finished in a bright cyan lacquer applied with a cracked-ice wave pattern - a surface texture that catches light differently depending on viewing angle. The sageo cord is woven in blue-brown tones and tied in a layered koshirae knot at the kurigata, completing the traditional presentation. At 41 inches overall and 3 lb, this katana ships in a 43 x 4 x 4-inch package at 4 lb. The cyan saya, blue tsuka, and silver-gold tsuba come together as a cohesive koshirae set that works equally well as a display centerpiece or a collector addition to a Japanese-themed arrangement.

Alright so it’s not sharp like I thought it’d be I’m guessing so it doesn’t cut people when they receive it, but by the hilt my blade curves it isn’t straight and it the sheath isn’t as tight I would like a refund because it isn’t as I expected but I will give it a few more days to see how I feel about this.
