Clay Tempered 1095 Carbon Steel Katana with Blue Blade and Hand-Painted Camouflage Saya

This full tang katana features a clay tempered 1095 carbon steel blade spanning 28.74 inches, hardened to 58 HRC. The clay tempering process creates a distinct hamon line along the edge - clearly visible against the deep blue finish that covers the blade surface. The blue hue transitions cleanly to a bright silver edge line, giving the blade a dramatic two-tone appearance that catches light from every angle. The tsuka measures 10.23 inches and is built on a hardwood core wrapped in white PU samegawa. Black cord tsuka-ito is wound in a traditional diamond pattern over the samegawa, creating a firm and textured grip. The contrast between the white same panels and the dark cord gives the handle a classic look that pairs well with the blade's vivid coloring.

An alloy tsuba sits between the handle and blade, featuring an open floral cutout design with black patina. A gold-tone copper collar ring and matching fuchi-kashira frame the guard, adding warmth to the otherwise dark handle assembly. The real copper habaki provides a snug and stable fit where the blade meets the tsuba.

The hardwood saya is finished in piano lacquer and decorated with a hand-painted camouflage pattern blending black, teal blue, and gold metallic fragments across the entire surface. A braided sageo cord in blue and yellow is tied at the kurikata, complementing the saya's color palette. At 30.7 inches, the saya fits the blade precisely and adds a distinctive visual element to the overall presentation.
