Product Details
The blade of this katana is forged from manganese steel in a full tang construction, featuring a bold geometric crackle pattern etched across the entire surface. This irregular, angular texture gives the steel a rugged, crystalline look that catches light at every angle. The edge is hand-finished, and the blade tapers to a chiseled kissaki (tip) that showcases the same fractured pattern right to the point.
The handle is built on a hardwood core layered with PU black samegawa and tightly wrapped in black leather ito. The dark, uniform wrapping provides a secure grip and a clean visual line that complements the monochrome palette of the entire piece. The kashira at the pommel end matches the silver-toned fittings.
The tsuba is a standout element - a silver-finished alloy guard sculpted into the shape of a crane with wings swept back along the blade collar. The bird's form is rendered in smooth, polished metal with visible feather detailing, creating a refined contrast against the matte black handle. This crane motif is among the most distinctive guard designs in our High Manganese Steel Katana collection.
The saya is crafted from hardwood and coated in a high-gloss black natural lacquer. Along its length, silver-toned floral engravings depict plum blossoms, cherry flowers, and branching stems. Small skull-like motifs are woven into the floral arrangement, adding an unexpected edge to the otherwise elegant pattern. The koiguchi (mouth) is fitted cleanly for a snug blade seat.
At 41 inches in overall length and 3 lbs in weight, this katana strikes a solid balance between visual impact and manageable heft. The monochrome black-and-silver color scheme, combined with the crane tsuba and engraved saya, makes it a cohesive display piece suited for collectors who appreciate bold design details. It pairs well with dark-themed setups, including pieces from our Black and Gray Samurai Armor range.
