T10 Carbon Steel Katana with Red-Black Tsuka in Painted Red-Black Hardwood Saya

The blade on this katana is forged from T10 carbon steel and hand-finished to a bright, polished chrome surface. A genuine hamon line runs along the edge, the result of differential heat treatment that creates a visible temper contrast between the hardened edge and the softer spine. The full-tang construction runs the entire length of the tsuka, providing structural continuity from tip to pommel. At 40.5 inches overall with a blade width of 1.26 inches, the proportions follow traditional katana geometry.

The tsuka is wrapped in red and black cord over a black PU samegawa base. The alternating diamond pattern in the wrap is executed cleanly, with consistent tension and spacing across the full grip length. Red-black sageo cord is knotted at the kurigata, completing the handle assembly in matched colorwork. A black iron tsuba in a round cutout design sits at the habaki junction. The openwork pattern is simple and geometric - four curved voids arranged symmetrically - keeping the fittings clean rather than decorative. The saya is hardwood with a lacquered surface, finished in a painted gradient that moves from deep red at the koiguchi through swirling ink-style strokes into black toward the kojiri.
