Tamahagane Steel Katana with Black Lacquer Saya - Dragon Tsuba, Brown Ito, Green Sageo

The blade on this katana is forged from tamahagane steel and processed through a clay tempering method that produces a genuine hamon - the undulating temper line visible along the edge. Hand-finished to a high-polish chrome surface, the blade measures 1.26 inches at its widest point and runs the full-tang length through the handle for structural integrity. The tsuka is wrapped in brown cotton ito using a knot-paper technique over genuine white samegawa ray skin. The diamond-shaped openings in the braid expose the textured ray skin beneath, a construction detail consistent with traditional Japanese handle finishing. The wrap is tight and even across the full grip length, with no slip points at the knot intersections.

The tsuba is iron-finished and black in tone, hand-carved with a dragon relief design on both faces. The dragon motif - representing power and protection in Japanese iconography - is rendered in raised detail around the full circumference of the guard. The circular profile and dark finish integrate cleanly with the overall color scheme of the sword.

The saya is crafted from hardwood finished in gloss black lacquer. A green-and-cream braided sageo cord is knotted at the kurigata, providing a two-tone accent that contrasts the black saya.
