Can functional-grade samurai swords be used for cutting practice?

 Updated Feb 2026

Our samurai swords are sold as collectible-grade pieces for display and collection. The materials and construction are consistent with blades used in tameshigiri (test cutting) practice, but we position all products as collectibles. Collectors who choose to use their swords for cutting do so at their own discretion and should have proper training and follow all safety protocols. The performance-grade steels in this collection — particularly T10 and 1060 — are specifically known for their durability and edge retention under repeated use, which is why they are the most commonly chosen steels by practitioners.
