What display hardware is needed for a Chinese greatsword?
Updated Feb 2026
Displaying a Chinese greatsword requires hardware appropriately sized to its extended blade length and heavier weight compared to standard single-handed swords. A horizontal wall bracket for a Chinese greatsword should have peg spacing wider than standard single-sword brackets - typically three or more pegs positioned at intervals along the blade length to support the extended blade without placing concentrated stress at only two points. The pegs should be positioned to support the scabbard at points that distribute the weight evenly, as the longer lever arm of an extended blade creates more torque on the mounting points than a shorter sword creates. Weight-rated mounting hardware is more important for a greatsword than for a standard sword - verify that the wall anchors and bracket hardware are rated to support the combined weight of the sword and a safety margin. For tabletop display, a floor-standing upright display rack sized for longer blades is one of the most effective ways to display a Chinese greatsword, as it allows the full length of the sword to be visible vertically while keeping it stable and accessible for inspection.
