Product Details

This katana features a folded T10 carbon steel blade that has been clay tempered to produce a genuine hamon line running along the edge. The differential hardening process brings the cutting edge to 60 HRC while keeping the spine more flexible, and the visible temper line creates an organic, wave-like pattern unique to each piece. The nagasa measures 28.3 inches with a clean, polished surface that catches light along its curvature.

The tsuka spans 10.2 inches and is built on a hardwood core wrapped in authentic white samegawa rayskin. Over the rayskin, black cotton ito is tightly wound in a traditional crosshatch pattern, giving both a comfortable grip and a classic look. The diamond-shaped gaps between the cord reveal the white rayskin underneath, creating a sharp black-and-white contrast.

At the guard, a round black alloy tsuba features an open pierced design with organic cutout shapes, adding a sense of depth without unnecessary weight. The dark finish on the tsuba pairs naturally with the black ito and sageo, keeping the fittings visually unified.

The saya is crafted from hardwood and finished in a deep red piano lacquer that gives it a smooth, mirror-like gloss. A black sageo cord is tied near the mouth of the scabbard, and the kurikata and koiguchi details are neatly integrated into the red surface. This red-and-black pairing places it firmly among the most sought-after styles in the Red T10 Carbon Steel Katana collection.

With a total length of 40.5 inches and a weight of 2.65 lbs, this katana balances substantial presence with manageable handling. Every component - from the folded steel blade to the lacquered hardwood saya - is assembled by hand, making it a strong addition to any collector's display or a meaningful gift for anyone drawn to traditional Japanese sword craftsmanship.

  • Folded T10 carbon steel blade with clay tempering produces a real hamon line visible along the 28.3-inch nagasa, hardened to 60 HRC for edge retention and resilience.
  • Full tang construction with authentic white samegawa rayskin under black cotton ito cord wrap ensures a secure, traditional grip across the 10.2-inch tsuka.
  • Hardwood saya finished in glossy red piano lacquer with black sageo cord, providing a striking contrast that protects the blade in style.
  • Round black alloy tsuba features an open pierced design with cutout motifs, adding visual depth and reducing weight at the guard.
  • Overall length of 40.5 inches at 2.65 lbs - a well-balanced katana scaled for display, collection, or traditional sword appreciation.

Saya color didn't match the pictures exactly but the sword is even more beautiful than I imagined.

The sword is fantastic. My only comment was that the image was of a cherry red sword scabbard and I received a mauve. Seems like an honest mistake and I wasn’t supper concerned with the color. That being said, the weapon slides out of its scabbard like butter and feels very solid. I read online that some buyers had complaints about stated length vs actual length, quality, and scabbard fit. The actual length was exactly as stated, the construction looks solid and there are no cheap vanity parts, and the scabbard absolutely matches the blade. My son was super excited and loves the piece. I definitely will buy from truekatana again

Very upset. Came with a damaged scabbard and a nick in the blade. Could
Just be bad luck on my end but the other reviews were very misleading (all 5 stars). The piece still looks cool but came dull when it was marketed as presharpened and with damage to the blade which is unacceptable.

Love both of my swords but, I thought I would receive a certificate of how it was made or the type of steel used to make it but, overall great quality and and the precision of ancient sword making. Thanks
