Product Details

This T10 clay tempered katana pairs traditional Japanese metallurgy with a refined visual presentation that sets it apart from standard production pieces. The blade is forged from T10 carbon steel, folded and clay tempered through a water quench process that produces a genuine hamon line along the cutting edge. The differential hardening yields 60 HRC at the edge with a softer, shock-absorbing spine - the hallmark of authentic clay tempering, not a cosmetic imitation.

The 28.3-inch nagasa is hand ground and polished to a chrome finish, revealing the natural hamon pattern that runs the full length of the blade. At 40.5 inches overall with a 10.2-inch handle, the proportions follow classical katana geometry. The full tang core runs through the entire handle and is locked in place with traditional mekugi pegs, ensuring structural integrity from pommel to tip.

What immediately distinguishes this piece is the tsuba: a sunflower-motif alloy guard with real gold and silver plating. The botanical design draws from the Japanese tradition of incorporating natural forms into metalwork, and the precious metal plating gives the guard a warm luster that contrasts beautifully against the black handle wrapping. White rayskin beneath the black cord adds texture and grip while contributing to the layered color palette.

The saya is crafted from natural hardwood with a piano lacquer finish - a high-gloss, mirror-like surface that immediately signals a premium tier piece. Unlike matte-finished scabbards, the piano lacquer catches ambient light and gives the black katana a polished, gallery-ready presence. The 30.3-inch scabbard includes a black sageo cord for traditional waist carry or display tying.

Weighing 2.9 pounds, this katana balances visual refinement with the structural substance expected from a T10 clay tempered sword. Every component - from the folded steel blade to the gold-plated sunflower guard and lacquered saya - reflects a commitment to both craft integrity and aesthetic ambition.

Finely made. Good weight and balance. As beautiful as it is lethal. Truly impressed.

For $400 something sword it actually works very well and is battle ready but through a pineapple no problem. I'd feel sorry for whoever tries to come through our door. Love this sword!
