Product Details

The blade of this katana is forged from 1060 carbon steel and heat-treated to 58 HRC, producing a dependable edge along its 28.74-inch nagasa. A deep blue finish coats the steel, creating a vivid contrast against the polished edge bevel. The full tang construction runs the entire length of the handle, secured with mekugi pins for structural integrity. Among our Blue Blade 1060 Carbon Steel Katana collection, this piece stands out for its layered color work and detailed fittings.

The 10.23-inch tsuka is built on a hardwood core wrapped in red PU samegawa for texture, then bound tightly with black cotton ito in a traditional crosshatch pattern. Small red accents are woven into the black cord, echoing the color theme seen throughout the sword. The wrap provides a firm, non-slip grip while contributing to the overall visual rhythm of the piece.

Sitting between the handle and blade, the round alloy tsuba features a gold-tone finish with a raised snake motif across its surface. The sculptural detailing catches light at multiple angles, and the warm gold color pairs naturally with the blue tones of the saya and blade. Gold-tone fuchi and kashira fittings bookend the handle, completing a cohesive metalwork scheme.

The 30.7-inch hardwood saya is finished in a blue pearlescent piano lacquer that shifts subtly under different lighting. Hand-painted gold designs adorn the upper section near the koiguchi, adding an artistic touch that elevates the scabbard beyond a simple protective sleeve. A black and red braided sageo cord is tied at the kurikata, matching the ito wrap and tying the entire color palette together.

At 40.94 inches overall and 4.4 lbs, this katana balances visual impact with solid craftsmanship. The coordinated blue, black, red, and gold color scheme runs through every component, from the lacquered saya to the woven sageo. Whether displayed on a stand or held in hand, this is a piece built for collectors who value both detail and presence in their Blue Katana selection.

This is the 2nd Sword I have purchased. The last one (so beautiful) was a Christmas gift as is this last one I purchased. I have not opened it yet. I want to be surprised as my Grandson when he opens it. I know it will be as beautiful
