Product Details

The 28.74-inch blade is forged from 1095 carbon steel, heat-treated to 58 HRC for dependable hardness and edge retention. Hand-carved dragon motifs run along the upper flat of the blade near the habaki, creating an intricate scene that catches light as the chrome-polished surface shifts in view. The steel holds a clean, mirror-like finish that highlights the precision grinding from spine to edge. For more options in this style, browse our Blade Polished Japanese Samurai Swords collection.

The 10.23-inch tsuka is built on a hardwood core wrapped first in white PU red samegawa, then bound tightly with black cotton ito in the traditional criss-cross pattern. The red samegawa peeks through the diamond gaps of the black cord, producing a vivid red-and-black contrast that defines this katana's visual identity. The wrap provides a textured, non-slip grip surface along the full handle length.

At the junction of blade and handle sits an iron tsuba engraved with elaborate dragon-themed patterns in a dark finish. A gold-tone real copper habaki collar locks the blade securely into the tsuba, and its floral engraving adds a warm metallic accent that breaks up the otherwise monochrome palette. The kashira (pommel cap) mirrors the tsuba's dark tone with its own sculpted relief work.

The hardwood saya stretches 30.7 inches and is coated in high-gloss black piano lacquer, producing a deep, reflective surface that looks almost liquid under light. A black sageo cord is tied at the kurikata in a neat knot, and the koiguchi opening is fitted with a polished buffalo horn accent ringed in gold, ensuring a smooth draw and a clean visual transition. This is the second sword I have bought from True Katana. I love the quality and the variety of swords offered here. This sword has a laser etched pattern on the blade. It has black ink in the etched pattern, however, on one side the ink only partially covers the pattern and fades to nothing. Really though, I still love this sword and I would buy it again.
