Product Details

The full tang blade is hand-forged from T10 carbon steel, folded and clay tempered to develop a natural hamon temper line that traces the edge in an organic, unrepeatable pattern. This heat treatment process creates a harder cutting edge while maintaining flexibility in the spine, and the visible hamon serves as proof of the differential hardening technique applied during forging.

An 11-inch hardwood tsuka is layered with PU red samegawa and tightly wound in black cotton cord using a traditional crosshatch pattern. The red panels peek through each diamond-shaped opening in the wrap, producing a sharp contrast that matches the saya's crimson tone. The kashira endcap carries an antique brass finish that echoes the tsuba's color family.

The copper tsuba features an openwork wave motif with swirling crests and circular cutouts, finished in an antique brass tone that gives it an aged, textured look. Paired with a matching set of seppa washers, the guard sits firmly between blade and handle, adding both structural integrity and a refined focal point to the sword's profile. This piece pairs well with other swords in our Red T10 katana collection.

The saya is carved from natural wood and coated in a deep crimson red finish with faint dark undertones near the kurikata fitting. A braided sageo cord in black with red accent threads wraps the scabbard, secured through the kurikata with a tight knot. The koiguchi mouth fits snugly against the habaki collar for a clean draw and seat.

At 41 inches in overall length and 3 lbs in weight, this katana balances visual presence with manageable heft. From the folded T10 steel and clay tempered hamon to the copper wave tsuba and crimson saya, every component reflects deliberate craftsmanship. Whether displayed on a wall mount or added to a growing collection of Red Rayskin Scabbard Japanese Samurai Swords, this katana delivers detail at every angle.

Got what I paid for.
279 plus a coupon was pretty good value for what I got. Their was a few problems to be expected from a cheaper Katana but the pros outweigh the cons in this scenario. And what I received was a beautiful Katana without a doubt.
