Nihonto Katana High Manganese Steel Blade with Gold-Bronze Lacquer Saya & White Ito

The blade on this nihonto-style katana is forged from high manganese steel and finished to a bright chrome polish. The full-tang construction runs the steel continuously through the handle, and the cleanly finished edge follows the classic single-bevel katana profile - tapering to a sharp, upswept kissaki. At 40.5 inches overall and 1.26 inches at the widest point, the proportions sit firmly in traditional katana territory.

The tsuka is wrapped in white synthetic ray-skin (same) beneath a white ito braid tied in the standard diamond-lozenge pattern. Ivory-toned fuchi and kashira fittings complete the handle assembly, giving the grip a clean, pale palette that sets up a strong visual contrast with the saya below. The handle construction follows the Multi Colored Sword koshirae tradition of pairing contrasting tones across the full fittings set.

The tsuba is one of the most detailed elements of this build. Cast in a silver-and-gold two-tone alloy, it carries an ornate scroll relief pattern across the full face of the guard - dense, flowing motifs worked into every quadrant. The habaki is finished in a warm ivory-gold tone that bridges the chrome blade and the decorative tsuba without breaking the visual flow.

The saya is where the color story peaks. Hardwood lacquered in a mottled gold-bronze finish, the surface texture reads like aged stone or oxidized metal - a layered mix of gold, olive, and grey tones that shifts depending on the light. White sageo cord wraps the kurigata in neat coils, and a black buffalo horn koiguchi caps the opening. The overall effect is a saya that reads as genuinely ornate rather than simply painted.
