T10 Carbon Steel Clay Tempered Katana with Real Hamon in Dark Blue Ito and Gold Floral Tsuba

This T10 carbon steel katana is clay tempered to produce a genuine hamon line that traces the length of the 28.74-inch blade. The differential hardening process creates a hardened edge at 58 HRC while keeping the spine resilient, resulting in both a functional heat treatment and a striking visual pattern along the steel. The blade has been manually ground to a hand-finished edge with clean geometry visible at the kissaki tip.

The 10.23-inch tsuka is constructed with a white ray skin base wrapped in dark navy blue cotton ito using a traditional crisscross pattern. Diamond-shaped menuki sit beneath the wrap, and the overall grip provides a secure, comfortable hold. This handle construction follows time-honored methods found across our Handmade Japanese Sword collection.

At the heart of the fittings sits a real copper tsuba finished in a rich gold tone. The guard features an elaborate openwork design combining cherry blossom clusters with a honeycomb lattice pattern, creating depth and visual contrast against the dark blue handle and black saya. Gold-tone fuchi and kashira complete the hardware set with a consistent warm metallic accent.

The saya is carved from hardwood and coated in piano lacquer, producing a deep, glossy black finish that catches light with a subtle shimmer. A dark navy sageo cord is tied in a traditional knot around the kurikata, and a blue-and-white marbled accent bead adds a small but distinctive detail near the saya mouth. The overall color scheme pairs deep navy blue with black and gold for a cohesive, elegant presentation.
