Product Details

This katana features a T10 carbon steel blade shaped through clay tempering, a traditional heat-treatment process that creates a distinctive real hamon along the cutting edge. The result is a visible temper line with a zigzag pattern that is unique to each piece. The blade has been manually ground to a hand-finished edge, with the steel displaying a clean transition between the hardened edge and the softer spine. As a Real Hamon Katana, this piece showcases one of the most sought-after features among serious collectors.

The tsuka is built on a full tang core and wrapped in green cotton cord using a traditional diamond pattern over genuine black samegawa (ray skin). The wrap is tight and consistent, with copper menuki accent pieces visible between the cord diamonds. At 10mm thickness, the cotton cord provides a comfortable, non-slip grip surface.

A copper tsuba with a scalloped, fan-like rim sits between the blade and handle. The face of the guard carries an ornate floral scroll motif with an aged patina finish. Matching copper fuchi and kashira cap both ends of the handle, tying the metalwork together in a cohesive warm-tone palette.

The saya is crafted from hardwood and finished in a deep green lacquer with a fine speckled texture that catches light subtly. A dark braided sageo cord is tied at the kurikata, and the interior is lined with knot paper to protect the blade during storage. The overall green-and-copper color scheme gives this piece a refined, distinctive presence on any display.

Measuring 41 inches in total length and weighing 3 lbs, this Carbon Steel Katana offers a well-balanced profile suited for collectors who value both traditional craftsmanship and visual impact. Sword stand or holder is not included.

  • Forged from T10 carbon steel with clay tempering that produces a visible, real hamon line along the blade - each pattern unique to the individual piece.
  • Full tang construction with a hand-finished edge and manual grinding ensures structural integrity from tip to pommel, totaling 41 inches in overall length.
  • Green cotton cord wraps the tsuka over authentic black ray-skin (samegawa), delivering a secure, textured grip with traditional Japanese aesthetics.
  • Copper tsuba features an ornate floral scroll design with a scalloped rim, complemented by matching copper fittings (fuchi, kashira, and menuki).
  • Green lacquered hardwood saya with a textured finish is paired with a dark braided sageo cord and knot paper lining inside the scabbard.
  • Total weight of 3 lbs gives the katana a balanced, substantial feel suited for display and collection - sword stand not included.

Sword over all is great quality for the price. Super sharp, beautifully crafted.

However the saya (sheath) is much brighter than it looks on the site, almost like glitter. I was expecting a more forest green.

All in all very satisfied.

I could not be more pleased with my order of the pictured katana. First, the packaging was very well done. Order arrived in a styrofoam box wrapped in water proof yellow tape. Inside, the blade was in its scabbard (saya) which was in a clear plastic wrap for protection. Upon removing the blade, I found it inside of an oiled tubular plastic wrap for corrosion protection. Second, the scabbard had a beautiful, consistent coloration and was made of hardwood with gold fittings - classy. Third the blade - 5/16" thick at the crossguard (tsuba) tapering to 3/16" at the tip. The differential heat treating line was stunning. The blade was very sharp and the handle was also covered in clear plastic wrap for protection. What a great value - I will definitely be a repeat customer!

This was a gift for my partner. He always wanted a sword since he was a child. When he opened up his gift and saw his beautiful forest green katana he jumped for joy! He was stunned at the craftsmanship and marveled at how exquisite the blade was made. I would definitely purchase another sword. I made a great choice by choosing True Katana! Amazing company with AMAZING array of swords to choose from!

From the box, it looked just like the picture but a little better. It’s very sturdy. The details are remarkable. This piece looks authentic, especially at the tip. The hamon is absolutely gorgeous. I love the look of it. I thought the back side was painted black and the cutting edge was grey. It could’ve just been the background reflection in the thumbnail photos. Nevertheless, it’s a very beautiful piece. I’m in love with the green wrapping, it’s a deep bold green.

The Katana is good overall , the only things that I could find wrong with it was the blade rattles in the saya; the Katana was tip heavy and was a bit punishing after swinging it for a while. Despite the downsides the fittings on the Katana were tight and the handle wrap feels good in the hands. Nothing about this Katana is low quality. Overall the Katana was money well spent and you certainly can buy with confidence.
