Product Details

The blade on this katana is forged from 1060 carbon steel and runs full tang through the entire handle construction, providing a solid foundation from tip to pommel. The nagasa receives a black surface treatment that eliminates the typical silver finish in favor of a dark, dramatic profile - the refined edge remains visible along the curve, catching light against the otherwise uniform black. For collectors exploring our range of 1060 Carbon Steel Sword options, this piece sits at the intersection of functional construction and striking aesthetics.

The tsuka is wrapped in traditional diamond-pattern ito using black cotton cord over a white PU samegawa base. The alternating white diamonds beneath the black wrap create a high-contrast visual rhythm across the full handle length, a classic koshirae detail that references authentic samurai construction without compromise.

The iron dragon tsuba is the visual centerpiece of the fittings - a circular guard with carved dragon relief work in matte black, the design cut with enough depth to read clearly against the dark overall scheme. Gold-accented stitching at the habaki introduces a subtle warm note between the tsuba and the blade, grounding the all-black palette with a traditional metallic detail.

The saya is shaped from hardwood and finished in piano lacquer, resulting in a high-gloss jet-black surface that mirrors its surroundings cleanly. A black sageo cord is attached at the kurigata and tied in a traditional looped knot, completing the koshirae presentation. If you are building a collection around this style, the Traditional Katana range offers additional pieces with comparable construction philosophy.

At 40.5 inches overall with a 1.26-inch blade width and a weight of 2.88 lbs, this katana carries well in hand and presents cleanly on display. Each piece is individually handcrafted, so minor variations in fit and finish are part of the process. Sword stand not included.

  • Forged from 1060 carbon steel, the full-tang blade runs the full length of the handle for structural integrity, finished with a striking all-black treatment that gives the nagasa a dramatic, uniform appearance.
  • The iron dragon tsuba features deeply carved relief work across its round black surface - dragon motifs cut through the guard with fine detail, framed by a natural wood habaki with gold accent stitching.
  • Handle wraps black cotton ito in a traditional diamond pattern over white PU samegawa, creating a sharp black-and-white contrast that gives the tsuka both grip texture and visual definition.
  • The saya is built from hardwood finished in high-gloss piano lacquer, delivering a deep jet-black mirror surface, with a matching black sageo cord tied in traditional koshirae style at the kurigata.
  • Overall length 40.5 inches, blade width 1.26 inches, total weight 2.88 lbs - proportioned for display or serious collection use, with each piece individually handcrafted for slight natural variation.

Almost perfect, never thought I'd see quality like this at this price point, I originally ordered only one not knowing what to expect, when it arrived even though shipping was somewhat long I was blown away by how great it looked and felt, one week later I ordered one more, I would upload more photos but it only lets me upload one. The steel is perfect, I saw no defects and the blade for both swords are perfectly straight with no dents. There is only one minor minor issue, on one of them the paint is a little "seethrough" on the tip of the sword and you can sort of see the metal, other than that, nothing, if I were to rate them I'd give a 9.5 but at this price they're definitely a 10. The shipping on the other hand could've been faster, no idea if it was fedex's fault but it took 11 days for it to leave the warehouse, it took about 2 and a half weeks for the swords to be delivered.
