Real Hamon Tamahagane Steel Katana, Handcrafted, Black Saya & Purple Tsuka

The blade of this katana is forged from tamahagane steel, the same iron-sand-derived material historically associated with Japanese sword-making tradition. A genuine hamon runs along the edge, the visible boundary created by differential hardening during the hand-finishing process. At 41 inches overall with a blade width of 1.26 inches, the proportions reflect classic katana geometry, and the full-tang construction carries through the entire handle for structural integrity. The tsuka is wrapped in purple cotton tsuka-ito over genuine white samegawa (ray skin), a traditional combination that provides both visual contrast and a textured surface. Knot paper wrap technology is used beneath the cord binding to maintain the diamond pattern and keep the wrap anchored over time. The result is a handle that presents the classic koshirae style with faithful material choices.

A round black iron tsuba with a plain profile separates blade from handle at the habaki. The tsuba's understated form lets the gold-tone fuchi collar at the handle throat provide a refined metallic accent without competing for attention. The hardware reads as a cohesive black-and-gold ensemble when viewed against the purple tsuka-ito.

The hardwood saya is finished in a deep black lacquer coat and carved with a dragon theme along its surface.
