Blue Katana with T10 Carbon Steel Blade, Gold Alloy Tsuba & Dragon-Carved Hardwood Saya

The blade starts with T10 carbon steel stock drawn out to a 28.74-inch nagasa, then clay tempered and hand finished to 62 HRC. The clay tempering process leaves a visible hamon - a natural temper line where hardened edge meets softer spine - running the full length of the blade. The matte-ground surface keeps the hamon clearly readable without mirror-polish glare, and the full tang construction carries through the entire tsuka for solid mechanical integrity.

The handle is built on genuine black rayskin (samegawa) wrapped tightly around the full-tang core, then over-wrapped in blue ito in a traditional diamond braid. The white samekawa nodes show through each open diamond, creating the blue-and-white contrast visible across the 10.62-inch grip. The kashira and fuchi trim carry a coordinating blue finish that ties the handle assembly together as a single cohesive unit.

The saya is shaped from hardwood and finished with multiple coats of natural lacquer in deep cobalt blue. Running the full 29.92-inch length of the blade, the scabbard surface is carved in a flowing dragon motif - raised relief lines follow the curve of the saya, adding texture and visual depth to what would otherwise be a flat lacquer surface. A blue-and-white braided sageo is knotted at the kurigata, adding a traditional finishing detail at the midpoint of the saya.

The round tsuba is cast in alloy with a wave-relief pattern across its face and finished in gold tone. The carved wave imagery fills the entire guard surface, with the gilding emphasizing the peaks and recesses of the design. At approximately 40.55 inches overall and 2.8 lb, the assembled sword carries the proportions and weight of a traditional katana while the blue-and-gold color scheme gives it a visually unified presentation across every component.
