Damascus Steel Tanto with Butterfly Saya - Teal Cord Handle & Copper Tsuba

The blade is hand-forged from folded melaleuca Damascus steel, producing the layered grain pattern visible along the flat and a well-defined hamon line running the length of the edge. The chrome-finished surface highlights both the folding lines and the temper line clearly, making the blade the visual centerpiece of this Damascus Tanto Sword.

The tsuka is wrapped in teal cord ito over real white samegawa in traditional koshirae fashion. The diamond-pattern wrap exposes small samegawa nodes at each crossing, keeping the grip both tactile and visually precise. A black horn kashira caps the pommel end.

The copper tsuba features engraved linear and chevron patterns across its surface, giving it a textured, hand-finished character. Warm copper tones provide strong contrast against the teal ito and the polished steel of the blade near the habaki.

The saya is constructed from hardwood finished in black piano lacquer. Hand-painted butterfly motifs in blue, white, and yellow are set against a misted dark ground, creating a layered depth that reads as artwork rather than decoration. Real horn koiguchi and kojiri complete the scabbard fittings. A teal and white sageo cord is tied at the saya in a structured decorative knot, connecting the handle and scabbard colorway.
