Product Details

This clay tempered katana features a 28.3-inch nagasa forged from T10 carbon steel, hardened to 60 HRC through differential clay tempering. The process produces a vivid, flowing real hamon along the blade's surface - each line organic and unique. The hand-finished edge and chrome-polished steel catch light against the undulating temper line, creating a striking visual contrast that speaks to the quality of the heat treatment.

The 10.2-inch tsuka is built on a hardwood core wrapped in genuine white samegawa, then bound tightly with black cotton cord in a traditional cross-hatch pattern. The white ray skin peeks through the diamond gaps in the wrapping, providing both visual texture and a firm, non-slip grip. Full tang construction runs the entire length of the handle for solid balance and structural integrity.

At the meeting point of blade and handle sits a gold-tone alloy tsuba decorated with a deeply sculpted dragon motif surrounded by flowing clouds and floral scrollwork. The round guard has a warm, antiqued brass finish that contrasts beautifully against the black handle wrapping, adding a bold focal point to the sword's profile. Among T10 Samurai Sword options, this dragon tsuba design stands out for its level of sculptural detail.

The 30.3-inch saya is carved from hardwood and coated in a matte black lacquer with a fine speckled texture, giving it a subtle, understated elegance. A black sageo cord is tied at the kurikata in a neat decorative knot, maintaining the sword's cohesive all-black theme. The saya mouth fits snugly against the habaki for a clean, satisfying draw and sheathe.

At 40.5 inches overall and 2.65 lbs, this katana balances substantial presence with manageable weight. Every fitting - from the fuchi and kashira to the menuki beneath the wrapping - follows the Black Samurai Sword aesthetic, making it a striking collectible piece for enthusiasts who appreciate traditional Japanese sword craftsmanship executed in a unified dark palette.

Frequently Asked Questions

What hardness does the clay tempered T10 blade achieve?
The T10 carbon steel blade is clay tempered to 60 HRC at the cutting edge. This differential hardening process creates the visible real hamon line along the nagasa while giving the spine greater flexibility and the edge strong retention.
Is the hamon on this katana real or etched?
The hamon is real, produced through traditional clay tempering rather than acid etching. Clay is applied to the spine before quenching, creating a natural, flowing temper line visible along the 28.3-inch blade. Each hamon pattern is unique to that specific sword.
What design is on the tsuba and what material is it?
The round tsuba is made from alloy with a gold-tone antiqued finish. It features a deeply sculpted dragon motif surrounded by flowing clouds and floral scrollwork. The warm brass color pairs with a brass habaki to contrast the sword's all-black handle and saya theme.

It is exactly what I expected it to be, right in the middle of fake and real.

The materials are functional enough to be considered usable, and I was satisfied with the sword

the sageo was not made of silk which was disappointing and made me fear the quality of the sword.

The Ito was poorly wrapped and does slide around and must be adjusted after or before every use.

The synthetic samegawa was impressive in that it did have imperfections in the pattern which made me think it was authentic ray/shark shin. That is until I touched it. For the price I was pleased with this, that being said there was a mistake made while placing it part of it is on top of the fuchi

I would recommend this to anyone who wanted to weild a katana but not have to worry about damaging an expensive authetic katana worth thousands of dollars.
I bring this to Iaido without a second thought

Overall it’s a good blade but the fittings on the handle weren’t that tight. On closer inspection The blade was cheaply manufactured, but for display purposes and light use this would be a good sword to get.
