Damascus Steel Tanto with Red Rayskin Saya - Hand-Forged, Real Hamon, 12.5" Blade

The 12.5" Damascus steel blade on this tanto is built from folded layered steel, hardened to 60 HRC and hand-finished to reveal a chrome-bright edge. A real hamon line runs the length of the blade - the temper line is clearly defined, showing the contrast between hardened edge and softer spine that collectors look for in quality Japanese-style tanto. The blade is sharpened and full tang, running the full length into the handle.

The 6" tsuka is wrapped directly in genuine red rayskin - no fabric ito overlay. The natural pearl grain texture of the samegawa is left exposed, creating a tactile and visually striking handle that stands out from standard cord-wrapped tanto. The bold red color is consistent from handle to saya.

A plain gold-tone alloy tsuba separates blade from handle. The simple round profile keeps the focus on the red and chrome color combination, while the warm gold tone ties the two together without competing with the rayskin detail.

The saya is constructed from genuine rayskin in matching red, finished naturally to preserve the texture of the material. At 12.5", it fits the blade with a clean draw. A black sageo cord is tied at the kurikata, providing the only color contrast in an otherwise fully red mounting.
