Product Details

This hand forged katana is built around a T10 carbon steel blade that has been folded and clay tempered using traditional differential hardening methods. The process creates a genuine hamon line along the edge - a natural byproduct of the clay coating technique, not an etched or printed imitation. With an edge hardness of 60 HRC and a softer, more resilient spine, the blade achieves the ideal balance between rigidity and flexibility that defines well-made Japanese steel.

The 28.3-inch nagasa sits within classic katana proportions, paired with a 10.2-inch handle built over a full tang core. The blade has been hand polished to a clean chrome finish that catches light and reveals the natural hamon pattern running from habaki to kissaki. At 3.0 pounds overall, it handles with authority without feeling cumbersome - a testament to proper weight distribution across its 40.5-inch length.

The tsuba is a standout element: a gold and silver plated alloy guard carved in a sweeping wave motif inspired by classical Japanese maritime art. The design pays homage to the great wave tradition in Japanese aesthetics, where the ocean represents both beauty and power. The plating adds warmth to the overall color scheme, complementing the black cord wrap and white rayskin beneath it.

The black matte hardwood saya extends 30.3 inches and provides a smooth, secure fit for the blade. The matte surface keeps the silhouette understated and resists marking during handling. A black sageo cord completes the traditional look, tying the scabbard together with the handle in a cohesive dark palette that lets the gold tsuba serve as the visual focal point.

From the folded steel core to the plated wave guard, every component reflects the work of swordsmiths practicing within a centuries-old craft tradition. This T10 clay tempered katana carries both the structural integrity and the aesthetic refinement expected by serious collectors of hand forged Japanese swords.
