Product Details

This tanto features a T10 carbon steel blade that has been clay tempered to produce a genuine hamon temper line visible along the edge. The differential hardening process yields a cutting edge of 60 HRC while keeping the spine resilient, and the hand-finished edge tapers to a precise kissaki point. The overall length sits at 22 inches, with the blade offering a chrome-polished surface that highlights the undulating hamon pattern. For collectors seeking more T10 Tanto options, this piece represents the hallmarks of the category.

The tsuka is wrapped in white ito cord over genuine white ray-skin samegawa, creating a clean, monochromatic grip section. The white-on-white layering gives the handle a textured, traditional look while providing firm purchase. Full tang construction runs through the hardwood core, secured by a mekugi pin for structural integrity.

Gold-tone alloy fittings define the transition points of this tanto. The fuchi and kashira display an openwork tortoiseshell pattern with raised scrollwork edges, while the habaki seats the blade firmly into the saya mouth. These fittings contrast sharply against the white handle wrap and dark blade, anchoring the overall color scheme.

The hardwood saya is finished in a striking black-and-grey speckled marble pattern with a matte surface texture. A navy and white striped sageo cord is tied at the kurikata with a traditional bow knot, and a small gold-tone kurigata accent punctuates the dark scabbard. The Hamidashi Koshirae collection features similar short-sword mountings for those drawn to this style.

At 22 inches overall and 2 lbs, this clay tempered tanto balances compact proportions with substantial presence. The combination of T10 steel, real hamon, white tsuka fittings, and speckled marble saya makes it a distinctive collectible piece rooted in traditional Japanese tanto design.

  • Forged from T10 carbon steel and clay tempered to produce a real hamon line, the blade reaches 60 HRC hardness with a refined, hand-finished edge.

  • The hardwood saya features a distinctive black-and-grey speckled marble finish, paired with navy and white striped sageo cord for a bold visual accent.
  • Gold-tone alloy habaki and kashira frame the handle with an openwork tortoiseshell pattern, adding intricate metalwork detail to the compact 22-inch overall profile.
  • Full tang construction ensures solid balance at 2 lbs, making this tanto a striking collectible piece with authentic Japanese-style craftsmanship throughout.

Could be sharper and I am not sure the ray skin is real. But it’s a pretty good deal.

This is a good tiny sword I like it a lot but the on downside is that the blade is kind of dull and it’s fake ray skin but understand for the price point but otherwise it’s a beautiful blade!
