Product Details

This full tang katana features a 28.5-inch manganese steel blade that has been clay-tempered to achieve 60 HRC hardness. The differential hardening process creates a visible hamon line running along the cutting edge, while the blade surface carries a deep blue finish that transitions from near-black at the spine to vivid cobalt blue toward the tip. The result is a striking gradient effect that catches light from every angle.

The 10.25-inch tsuka is built on a hardwood core wrapped with PU white samegawa beneath a black leather ito binding arranged in the traditional diamond pattern. The contrast between the white samegawa diamonds and the dark leather creates a clean, graphic look that complements the blue-and-black color palette of the entire piece.

Sitting between handle and blade, the alloy tsuba takes the shape of an open flower with flowing petal cutouts arranged in a lobed silhouette. Its dark gunmetal finish keeps the focus on the sculptural form rather than reflective shine, serving as a refined transition point between the two halves of the sword.

The hardwood saya is finished in glossy black lacquer and hand-decorated with a bold white vine-and-leaf motif that wraps around the scabbard body. A gold-and-black braided sageo cord is tied at the kurikata, adding a warm metallic accent against the monochrome pattern. This saya design echoes the organic lines of the tsuba and ties the entire presentation together. For more swords with this distinctive finish, browse the Blue Katana collection.

At 40.5 inches overall and 2.6 lbs, this katana balances visual impact with manageable proportions for shelf or wall display. Every component - from the clay-tempered blue blade to the vine-patterned saya - is hand-assembled, making it a standout addition to any Manganese Steel Japanese Samurai Swords collection.

  • Forged from manganese steel with clay-tempered hardening to 60 HRC, the 28.5-inch blue-hued blade displays a visible hamon line along the edge for a striking visual contrast.
  • Full tang construction with a 10.25-inch hardwood tsuka wrapped in PU white samegawa and black leather ito, delivering a secure and traditional grip feel.
  • Black hardwood saya finished in premium natural lacquer and decorated with a bold white vine-and-leaf pattern, paired with a gold-and-black braided sageo cord.
  • Alloy tsuba in a flower silhouette with open petal cutouts, adding an elegant accent between the blue blade and the black handle assembly.
