Product Details

The blade on this katana is forged from T10 carbon steel with a full tang running through the entire length of the handle. A real hamon line is visible along the blade, the result of differential heat treatment applied during the forging process. At 40.5 inches overall with a 1.26-inch width and 0.275-inch spine, the geometry is consistent with traditional Japanese sword proportions. The sword weighs 3.17 lbs and is built to the specifications of a functional replica. For collectors interested in T10 steel construction, our Natural T10 Carbon Steel Katana collection offers additional options in this material.

The tsuka is wrapped in dark blue tsuka-ito over white PU same (rayskin), using a traditional diamond-pattern binding that leaves the underlying rayskin nodes visible between each cross. The handle provides a firm two-handed grip and the wrap is finished cleanly at both ends with matching fuchi and kashira in gold-tone alloy.

The tsuba is cast in gold-tone alloy with an ornate scroll design and open lattice cutouts through the center panel. The seppa on either side secure the guard firmly against the habaki, and the overall fittings maintain a consistent metallic tone across the koshirae.

The saya is constructed from hardwood with a silver lacquer finish and covered in deeply carved vine-pattern engraving across the full length of the scabbard. The kojiri cap and koiguchi mouth piece are finished in matching silver, and the dark blue sageo cord is tied at the kurikata in a traditional knot. If the silver saya aesthetic is a priority, the Silver Scabbard Japanese Samurai Swords collection includes comparable options.

Each sword is individually handmade by experienced swordsmiths, so minor variations in hamon pattern and finish are expected and reflect the handcraft nature of the piece. Overall package dimensions are 43.3 x 3.93 x 3.14 inches with a shipping weight of 4.4 lbs. Sword stand is not included.

The sword is absolutely beautiful and sharp enough to shave with. The scabbard is like the design is engraved into the leather before being painted silver with is pretty cool. It's sturdy and the blade fits nicely in the scabbard. All in all I'm happy with this new addition to my now 7 katana sword collection.
