Product Details

This katana features a 28.34-inch blade forged from T10 carbon steel through a folding and clay tempering process. The differential hardening produces a genuine hamon - a visible temper line running along the edge - while bringing the cutting edge to 60 HRC. The chrome-finish blade surface highlights each subtle wave of the hamon pattern, a direct result of the clay tempering technique passed down through generations of Japanese swordsmithing. The tsuka extends 10.62 inches and is built on a hardwood core wrapped in black ray skin, then bound tightly with black cotton ito cord. Gold menuki ornaments sit beneath the wrap, providing both a tactile grip point and a touch of contrasting color. The full tang construction runs through the entire handle, secured with a mekugi pin for structural integrity.

At the junction of blade and handle sits a round alloy tsuba finished in silver. The guard carries a deeply sculpted dragon motif on its face, with fine detail in the scales and claws. A gold-toned lattice collar (habaki area) transitions from the tsuba to the blade, creating a refined accent that pairs with the overall black-and-gold color scheme.

The hardwood saya measures 29.52 inches and is coated in glossy black piano lacquer that gives it a mirror-like surface. The standout feature is a raised gold dragon design wrapping around the upper portion of the scabbard, rendered with intricate scale texture and flowing whiskers. Silver-toned fittings at the koiguchi and kojiri cap the saya at both ends. A black sageo cord with a knotted tassel is tied at the kurikata. The complete katana measures 40.15 inches in overall length and weighs 2.53 lbs. Every component - from the folded steel blade to the lacquered dragon saya - is assembled by hand, making this a collectible replica suited for display, gifting, or adding to a growing sword collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What steel and hardness does this katana blade have?
The blade is forged from T10 carbon steel using a folding and clay tempering process. Clay tempering produces the genuine hamon temper line visible along the edge, and the cutting edge is hardened to 60 HRC for excellent edge retention.
What is the gold dragon design on the saya made of?
The gold dragon motif is a raised decorative element applied over a glossy black piano lacquer finish on a hardwood saya. The scabbard measures 29.52 inches and includes silver-toned end fittings at the koiguchi and kojiri, paired with a black sageo cord.
What theme is featured on the tsuba and how is it finished?
The round alloy tsuba carries a deeply sculpted dragon relief in a silver finish, with detailed scales and claws across the guard face. A gold-toned lattice collar at the habaki area complements the dragon motif and ties into the saya's gold dragon design.

Very nice, I had to wrestle with the packaging but the sword itself is amazing. It has a clean edge, very nice scabbard design and the handle is nicely wrapped and tight. The tsuba design is so beautifully detailed as well.
