Product Details

The blade on this katana is forged from T10 carbon steel, heat-treated to produce a visible hamon - the temper line that runs along the cutting edge as evidence of the differential hardening process. The hand-finished surface carries the polish marks of individual craftsmanship, and the full-tang construction means the steel extends continuously through the handle rather than terminating at the habaki. Explore our full range of T10 Katana to compare blade finishes and hamon styles across the lineup.

The tsuka is wrapped over genuine white stingray skin (samegawa), which provides grip texture beneath the two-tone ito braid. The wrap follows a traditional diamond-pattern spacing using black-and-red cord, with ivory-toned menuki ornaments visible at the knot intersections. The result is a handle that reads as predominantly black at distance but reveals its red accent detail up close.

The tsuba is an iron guard finished in black with gold-toned trim, featuring an ornate scroll motif across its face and a braided-edge rim. A matching pair of small fittings in silver-tone metal appear at the collar, tying the guard visually to the habaki below. The koshirae-style mounting treats every fitting as part of a unified design rather than a functional afterthought.

The saya is constructed from hardwood with a black lacquer finish and fitted with a black-and-red sageo cord that echoes the ito color scheme on the handle. A paper interior lining protects the blade surface during storage - visible in the product detail shot. The scabbard fits flush with no rattle, reflecting the care taken in fitting each individually forged sword to its own sheath.

Overall length is 41 inches and the assembled piece weighs 3 lbs. Because each sword is hand-forged individually, minor variation in hamon pattern and surface character is expected and inherent to the process. Sword stand not included. • Blade is forged from T10 carbon steel with a hand-finished edge and a visible real hamon line - a genuine differential-hardening temper line along the cutting edge.
  • Full-tang construction runs the steel continuously through the handle core, providing structural integrity across the entire 41-inch overall length at 3 lbs.
  • Handle features black stingray skin (samegawa) under a two-tone black-and-red ito wrap in traditional diamond-pattern spacing, with ivory-toned menuki accents visible between the braid.
  • Tsuba is an iron piece finished in black-and-gold with an ornate scroll motif and braided rim detail - a hand-carved guard that anchors the koshirae aesthetic.
  • Black lacquered hardwood saya is fitted with a matching black-and-red sageo cord, completing a cohesive dark-and-crimson color scheme from tip to scabbard.
  • Each sword is individually hand-forged, so hamon pattern and minor surface character vary slightly - no two pieces are identical.

I received my order of a high quality katana blade and I have to say that I'm impressed with the way the sword is crafted. When I received the sword I opened it up and it's definitely seems protected with much wrappings and a box that contains it. I saw the blade and I did read from other customer reviews that there's oil/lubricant on the blade for it's maintenance.

I did read on the website that depending on the sword you order it does take some time to receive it. In my case it took 2 weeks. You can track your order when you log in notifying the locations your order is coming from so you don't freak out.

Other than that, I will make another order with this company again.
