Product Details

This katana is built around a T10 carbon steel blade that has been clay tempered and hand-finished to 60 HRC hardness. The differential tempering process - applying clay to the spine before quenching - creates a harder edge and a softer, more flexible back, resulting in the visible hamon wave along the 28.34-inch nagasa. The polished chrome finish of the blade makes that hamon line read clearly against the mirror surface, and the hand-sharpened edge reflects the individual attention each blade receives during finishing.

The tsuka is wrapped in white real rayskin (samegawa), which sits beneath a braided ito cord in a natural tan-and-cream diamond pattern. The combination - visible clearly in the detail image - creates a textured grip that balances aesthetics with function. At 11.02 inches, the handle proportion suits a standard two-handed grip, and the full-tang construction ensures the blade and handle move as one unit.

The tsuba is cast from alloy and carries a tiger theme in its relief design. The surface shows a mix of silver and copper tones with gold-accent details - the carved tiger motif and floral elements are visible in the close-up panel. It sits cleanly at the habaki collar, protecting the hand-to-blade transition without adding excessive bulk.

The saya is made from hardwood with a warm reddish-brown lacquered surface that shows natural wood grain through the finish. It measures 28.74 inches and pairs with a braided gold-and-tan sageo cord, which echoes the color palette of the tsuka ito. The overall visual impression is warm earth tones contrasted against the cold polish of the steel.

At 39.76 inches overall and 3.08 lb, the piece carries a balanced weight distribution that reflects its full-tang build. Total package dimensions are 43.4 x 3.9 x 3.14 inches with a shipping weight of 3.4 lb. Sword stand not included.

  • Blade forged from T10 carbon steel, clay tempered to 60 HRC hardness, with a genuine hamon line running the full 28.34-inch nagasa - a direct result of the differential hardening process used by traditional Japanese swordsmiths.
  • Handle wrapped in white real rayskin (samegawa) under a tan-and-natural braided ito cord in a traditional diamond pattern, providing a secure grip and an authentic two-tone visual texture across the 11.02-inch tsuka.
  • Alloy tsuba features a detailed tiger theme with gold-tone accents and relief sculpting - visible in the mixed silver and copper surface tones that frame the carved motif at the blade-to-handle junction.
  • Natural wood saya with a warm reddish-brown lacquered finish - visually confirmed in the image as polished hardwood with visible grain, paired with a gold-and-tan sageo cord.
  • Full-tang construction runs the entire length of the handle, contributing to the 3.08 lb balanced feel across the 39.76-inch overall length.
  • Hand-finished edge on a refined, polished blade with a visible hamon wave - each piece reflects individual forge work rather than machine production.

Very pleased with this Katana purchase, excellent quality! I purchased a Wakizashi from truekatana a few months ago (also excellent quality) and knew I’d end up pairing it with a Katana that caught my eye. This model is exquisite, all components are well crafted with attention to detail that I’m still discovering. I cannot say enough good things about truekatana, the website design makes it easy to find the perfect sword, the ordering process is simple and easy, customer support is top notch, and shipment/tracking/delivery is a breeze! Stop thinking about it and just do it, find that perfect model and place your order, you’ll have no regrets, guaranteed!
