Product Details

The blade is forged from T10 carbon steel, hardened to 62 HRC and hand-finished to a chrome-toned polish across the 28.74-inch nagasa. A genuine hamon runs the full length of the edge - the natural boundary line between hardened edge and softer spine, achieved through the heat-treatment process rather than grinding. The result is a visually striking temper line that shifts with light and angle, giving each piece its own character. If you're exploring other tanto options in this steel, the Marble T10 Carbon Steel Tanto Swords collection covers the full range.

The tsuka measures 10.62 inches and is built on a full tang construction for structural integrity throughout the handle. Genuine black rayskin (samegawa) is fitted beneath the wrap, adding grip texture and traditional authenticity. Over that, dark blue cotton ito is applied in a standard diamond wrap, with white same nodes visible in the open lozenges - a clean contrast against the deep navy cord.

The tsuba is cast alloy in a circular form with a gold-silver two-tone finish. Both faces carry a raised dragon motif with wave and cloud detailing - the dragon's body curling across the plate in high relief. Gold and silver gilding picks out the fine details, making this fitting the visual centerpiece of the entire assembly.

The saya is constructed from hardwood with a premium lacquer finish applied in a blue-gold marble pattern - swirling gold lines and deep blue fields create a surface that reads almost painterly. The matte finish reduces glare and gives the saya a refined, understated quality. Horn fittings at the koiguchi and kojiri provide durability at the two points of most contact, and a dark blue sageo is knotted at the kurigata with a double-loop tie. The Gold Tsuba Tanto collection offers further options if the gilded tsuba aesthetic is what draws you here.

Total assembled length is 40.55 inches with the blade seated. Shipping weight is 2.2 lbs, packaged in a 23.6 x 3.9 x 3.5-inch box. The koshirae-style fittings are consistent throughout - every component from sageo to kojiri is coordinated in the same blue-gold palette, making this tanto a cohesive display piece from tip to chape.

This piece is beautiful. The only reason I took off a star was for minor quality control issue. A few scuffs. Other than that it really nice.
