T10 Carbon Steel Tanto with Red Koi-Painted Saya and Brown Cord Handle

The tsuka is wrapped in brown cord ito over a base of real white samegawa, laid in the classic diamond-window pattern. White menuki peek through the gaps in the wrap, and a solid black kashira caps the butt end. The grip sits firmly in hand and measures proportionally to the blade's compact length.

The black iron tsuba is the visual centerpiece of the koshirae fittings, engraved with koi fish in detailed relief and accented with gold and silver gilding. A gold-toned fuchi collar bridges the tsuba to the handle wrap, keeping the metalwork cohesive across all fitting elements.

The saya is crafted from hardwood and finished in multiple coats of red natural lacquer. Hand-painted koi fish - rendered in orange, white, and gold - swim across the lacquered surface against the deep red ground, with stylized aquatic grasses filling the negative space. A brown sageo cord is tied in a decorative knot around the saya body, with a small amber-toned bead at the knot center. The overall effect is rich and deliberate, with the red saya and brown cord creating a warm, complementary palette against the polished steel.
