Damascus Steel Katana with Gold Samurai Tsuba, Black Lacquer Saya & Hamon Blade

The blade is forged from folded Damascus steel, its surface marked by flowing layered patterns that emerge from the repeated folding and forging process. A clear hamon line traces the full length of the edge, creating strong contrast between the polished edge bevel and the textured ji above it. At 40.5 inches overall with a blade width of 1.26 inches and a total weight of 3.17 lb, the proportions follow classical katana geometry. Collectors drawn to Hand Forged Samurai Sword construction will recognize the deliberate craft in the blade finish.

The tsuka is wrapped using traditional tsukamaki technique - black cotton cord wound over PU white samegawa in a tight, even pattern. The white samegawa creates a clean geometric contrast beneath the black cord, while a red accent piece is set at the fuchi area, visible in the detail photography. The 10mm cord provides grip surface that resists movement without bulk.

The tsuba is cast copper with a gold-tone finish and carries a samurai figure in raised relief across its face. Secondary decorative elements fill the ground, and the oval form follows koshirae proportions. The gold tone anchors the entire fitting color story - copper habaki and fuchi carry the same warm metallic register against the black handle cord.

The saya is shaped from hardwood and finished in multiple coats of natural lacquer, producing a deep, even black with a low-gloss surface. A black sageo cord is knotted at the kurikata in the traditional loop configuration. The lacquer protects the wood core while giving the saya the kind of surface quality expected in Black And White Katana display pieces - sharp, clean, and visually grounded.
