The sword is very sharp and my skills at sharpening blades would only reduce the sharpness that it came with. The steel could be higher quality and harder like a HRC 60-66 or 1060-1090 stainless steel. Although 1045 steel is fine, I imagine this blade’s edge will not last as long while cutting with it whether training or in a combat situation. I will say it’s plain but beautiful. The dark blue steel blade is cool if that’s what you are interested in. Definitely not a traditionally made sword but that doesn’t mean this sword is drastically worse or better than an authentic Japanese hand forged and crafted katana. Worth the money overall but if you’re looking for quality that is worthy of a great display piece then definitely shoot for something closer to $500-$1000. But if you wanna chop water bottles and melons in your back yard and have a relatively cool coffee table center piece, this is the sword for you. I will not buy another sword of this quality level and my next will be something more Ornate while being extremely functional simultaneously.

Blade is absolutely beautiful. Although I can't see for next time, what is the length of the weapon because in dimensions it says 41x0x0. Which is misleading, because as I searched for a Nodachi, which is a Japanese Great sword. They are very long but it says 41x0x0. If anyone could point out how to find out the length of a weapon on the site that'd be great. Either way I love my shikomizue.
