Overall experience, ok. Shipping box looked like someone took a sword to it (torn, ripped, dented); sturdier material should be used. Ok sword (you get what you pay for) but blade collar (Habaki) and guard (Tsuba) are loose. Wasn't expecting a battle-ready, high end piece, but shouldn't have loose parts.

I like knives and I have different types of knives and hand sharpener, electric sharpener (Tormek). I keep my knives always sharp. First time owner of a Katana. First impression is good. The steel is original Damascus. The hamon looks good. r

Things I did not like much:r
1. It was written that it is razor sharp. No, definitely not razor sharp, even noth sharp. It doesn't cut folded paper towel even though I press much. With fingers, I don't feel the sharpened. After sharpening my knives, I test them and I am what is sharp and what is notr
2. Polish is not good enough. In some points of blade, with my nail, I can easily feel the Damascus layers.r
3. Habaki: design is good, but workmanship looks poor, machine made.r
4. Saya: The thing that really bothered me was the saya. When you shake the blade, it makes wabbling noise. The blade does not perfectly fit to Saya. r

I think for this price, it was good enough.

When I first found this page, I was so blown away by the amount of stock that was available I had such a hard time choosing what one to buy first. But im so glad I picked and finally got it in the mail. I was even more blown away when I opened it and held it. I'm still so very excited to have one and will most definitely be getting more. Also I'd love a Samurai Jack style Katana. I'd definitely get one of those. Thank you and a very, very job well done.

It’s my first sword and I’m really satisfied with its quality. The materials look premium, the handle feels good and the balance is nice although I haven’t cut anything with it apart from some paper. It’s not as sharp as I would have wished it to be and it has a little chip on the apex, which may have occurred from transportation or from sheathing/unsheathing, but nothing that can’t be fixed with a little patience and sharpening. Regarding transportation and sheath; the package was simple, foam wrapped in tape, the sheath and handle were wrapped in plastic, BUT, the blade was coated probably with an anti corrosion oil and wrapped in a plastic foil; the sheath feels a bit on the big side as the blade kinda wobbles inside from left to right and sheathing/unsheathing leaves chips of wood on the apex.r
I love the pattern on the blade.r
All in all, I’m really satisfied with it as a first purchase, and I’m really curious and excited about buying a tamahagane blade in the future.

I was researching ok weaponry and the history of Japan, At first I was learning about shikomizue which then lead me to Zatoichi and now you guys(TrueKatana). I am very thankful to own this and thankful for you guys for having marketing available for customers such as myself. Eleven out of ten in my opinion if that’s even possible?

Build quality is lacking in some areas. r

Packaging is terrible. It comes in a taped up Styrofoam container instead of a wooden or cardboard box. Its from China, but that's expected.r

The katana itself is decent and sharp.r
The outer finish on the saya is nice and looks exactly like the pictures.r

However, it was extremely hard to remove the katana from the saya, due to the habaki area getting stuck. I ended up having to lightly sand down the koiguchi area once I eventually got the katana out of the saya.r
r
Moreover, the blade rattles in the saya, which I'm not sure how I'm going to fix yet.
