Product Details

This tachi sword features a 28.5-inch folded Damascus steel blade that has been clay-tempered to produce a natural hamon line along the edge. The layered steel construction creates a distinctive pattern across the blade surface, while the clay tempering process gives the steel a rich red-toned finish visible from spine to edge. Hardened to 60 HRC, the blade is hand sharpened and full tang for structural integrity.

The 10.6-inch tsuka is wrapped in blue silk cord over authentic black samegawa (ray skin), creating a traditional diamond pattern grip. Gold-tone alloy fuchi and kashira cap each end of the handle, with matching menuki ornaments seated beneath the wrap. The extended handle length reflects the tachi's historical design as a cavalry-style sword meant for two-handed use.

At the guard, a gold alloy tsuba displays an elaborate floral theme with black enamel detailing. The lobed shape and raised chrysanthemum-style motifs give the tsuba a bold decorative presence that complements the gold hardware found throughout the fittings. This piece pairs well with other swords in our Nodachi Tachi Sword collection.

The hardwood saya is finished in a deep blue piano lacquer that catches light with a smooth metallic sheen. Gold-tone metal fittings run the length of the scabbard - from the koiguchi at the mouth through ornamental bands down to the kojiri at the tip. A black-and-white braided sageo cord is tied at the kurikata, adding a striking visual contrast against the blue surface.

At 40.9 inches overall and 3 lbs, this Damascus tachi carries the proportions and weight of a traditional long sword. Every component - from the clay-tempered blade to the lacquered saya - is assembled by hand. For collectors exploring folded steel craftsmanship, our Damascus Odachi collection offers additional pieces in this material category.

Very Beautiful sword why the blade was not sharpened to a razor edge.
