Product Details

This katana features a 28.3-inch nagasa forged from T10 carbon steel and clay tempered to achieve a genuine hamon line along the edge. The clay tempering process creates differential hardness - reaching 60 HRC at the cutting edge while maintaining flexibility through the spine. The result is a visible, organic temper line that follows the curvature of the blade with natural variation.

The 10.2-inch tsuka is wrapped in brown ito cord over authentic white samegawa, providing a secure and textured grip. The wrap pattern is tight and uniform, and the black-and-white braided sageo tied at the kurikata adds a striking visual accent against the warm tones of the handle and saya.

At the heart of the koshirae sits a gold-toned alloy tsuba with a sculpted tiger figure set against an openwork lattice background. The tiger motif is rendered in high relief with fine detailing on the fur and posture, making it a standout feature among T10 Katana builds.

The saya is crafted from natural hardwood with its grain left exposed, giving it an organic, warm brown appearance with subtle wood texture. At 30.3 inches, it houses the blade securely with a fitted habaki seat. The unfinished surface sets this piece apart from lacquered alternatives.

Overall, this katana measures 40.5 inches in length and weighs 2.65 lbs. The full tang construction runs through the entire handle, secured with mekugi pins. Every component - from the clay tempered T10 blade to the tiger tsuba and natural saya - is assembled by hand, placing it firmly within the tradition of Real Japanese Katana craftsmanship.

Frequently Asked Questions

What steel and hardness does this katana blade have?
The blade is forged from T10 carbon steel and clay tempered, reaching 60 HRC at the cutting edge. This process creates a genuine hamon line with a softer, more flexible spine to balance durability and resilience across the 28.3-inch nagasa.
Is the hamon on this T10 katana real or etched?
The hamon is real, produced through clay tempering where clay is applied to the spine before quenching. This creates differential hardness and a natural, irregular temper line - not wire-brushed, acid-etched, or printed onto the surface.
What is the tsuba design and saya material on this katana?
The tsuba is a gold-toned alloy guard featuring a sculpted tiger in high relief against an openwork lattice pattern. The saya is made from natural hardwood with its grain left exposed for a warm, organic finish, measuring 30.3 inches in length.

Came quickly and as advertised. Chose the Tiger theme because I was born in the year of the Tiger. Beautiful blade and craftsmanship. Sharp, now prepared for the zombie apocalypse....

Incredible craftsmanship, and this sword carries the spirit of a warrior, made in the true Hamon fashion. The gold detailing is impeccable. This katana is a dream to hold and own and display. It is my go-to self-defense weapon against any evil, as it is made of T-10 steel! Amazing! The scabbard is so classy and sophisticated, the entire design is regal.

I purchased a T10 sword that is just beautiful in all aspects. I ordered it with rosewood scabbard for durability. Was a little tight for draw, but a second with a small file and it was perfect. Handle perfect and fitted to sword. No rattle when in hilt. Very sharp. Previously purchased your bamboo style wakizashi 's,Damascus blades, I bought 2 and no disappointment whatsoever, very strong blades. Started martial arts back in 70's and comfortable with many weapons, swords are my favorite way of meditation. Thank you for your quality and honesty with your products,Doug
