The blade on this katana is forged from T10 carbon steel and clay tempered using a traditional water-quench process, producing a genuine hamon line that runs the length of the 28.3-inch nagasa. At 60 HRC, the steel holds a hand-finished edge while retaining the flex needed for a full-tang piece of this length. The tsuka is 10.2 inches long, wrapped in black ito over what appears from the image to be a teal rayskin (same) base. The tight diamond-pattern wrap reveals the rayskin through each gap, and the black menuki hardware punctuates the grip at the traditional positions. The tsuba is one of the most visually detailed elements of this piece.
