Product Details

This katana features a 28.34-inch blade forged from T10 carbon steel through a process of folding and clay tempering. The folding refines the steel grain for added resilience, while the clay tempering creates a genuine hamon - a visible temper line running along the edge that marks the transition between the hardened cutting edge at 60 HRC and the softer, more flexible spine. The entire blade is finished in a bold golden tone that catches light beautifully and sets this piece apart from traditional polished steel katanas. For more options in this steel type, browse our T10 Katana collection.

The tsuka measures 10.23 inches and is built on a full tang hardwood core. PU white samegawa wraps the handle beneath a tight black cotton ito in a traditional diamond pattern. Gold menuki accent pieces sit beneath the cord, adding subtle detail visible between the wrap crossings. The overall construction provides a firm, comfortable hold with excellent balance.

The tsuba is a gold alloy guard styled in a chrysanthemum flower motif. Each petal is sculpted in raised relief with fine detailing, creating a layered floral silhouette. The warm gold color ties directly into the blade finish, giving the katana a cohesive metallic accent from guard to tip.

The saya is crafted from hardwood with a distinctive red and black crackle lacquer finish - a fine network of dark veins running across a deep crimson surface that mimics traditional ishime texture. It measures 30.31 inches with a matte surface feel. A black sageo cord is tied at the kurikata in a traditional knot, matching the black ito on the handle for a unified color scheme.

At 40.55 inches overall and 2.64 lbs, this katana balances the visual impact of its golden blade and red crackle saya with solid T10 steel construction. It fits well among Red And Gold Katana Sword displays and serves as a distinctive centerpiece for any Japanese sword collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What steel and heat treatment does this golden katana use?
The blade is forged from T10 carbon steel that has been folded and clay tempered to achieve 60 HRC hardness at the edge. The clay tempering process produces a genuine hamon line visible along the golden-finished blade, marking the boundary between the hard edge and flexible spine.
How does the golden blade finish look in person?
The entire 28.34-inch blade has a warm golden tone with a smooth, reflective surface that highlights the curvature and kissaki tip. Paired with the gold alloy flower tsuba, it creates a cohesive metallic accent that contrasts sharply against the black handle wrap and red saya.
What is the design on the tsuba and saya?
The tsuba features a chrysanthemum flower motif in gold alloy with layered petals sculpted in raised relief. The hardwood saya has a red and black crackle lacquer finish resembling traditional ishime texture, complemented by a black sageo cord tied at the kurikata.

On the truekatana pictures the blade looks golden. In real life it is much more a brown metalic. I made the paper test to see how sharp the blade is. And it was not really sharp. Otherwise it is a nice sword.
