Product Details

The 20.47-inch damascus steel blade on this wakizashi is the centerpiece of the build - layered pattern steel reveals itself across the full length of the nagasa, with a genuine hamon temper line tracing the edge and a hand-polished chrome finish that keeps the visual contrast sharp. Hardness is rated at 60 HRC, and the blade arrives sharpened from the forge. Explore more pieces in this category at our Damascus Wakizashi collection.

The tsuka runs 8.66 inches and is wrapped in black ito cord over a black same (ray skin) base. The diamond-pattern wrap is clean and consistent, sitting flush against the fuchi and kashira fittings for a finished koshirae presentation.

The tsuba is cast from real copper with a white finish and features an ornate scroll cutout pattern - open-work construction that gives the guard a refined, detailed look. The habaki sits snugly between tsuba and blade, completing the transition from handle to nagasa without play or looseness.

The saya is built from hardwood and finished in a bold yellow piano lacquer with a high-gloss surface. A skull graphic printed near the lower body of the saya adds a distinct visual accent, breaking from conventional lacquer decoration. A black sageo cord is knotted at the kurigata. I purchased a full tang battle ready Damascus katana for myself. My selection is a simple design at nearly a thousand US dollars. That level of investment was based one two factors, positive rati gs of prior purchasers and my experience while living in Japan as a child. After several days of running the sword I bought two wazikaski and a tachi for my son and daughter (respectively) as heirloom items for them to pass onto future generations. r
All four are well build instruments. I am very happy to have found True Katana...and will likely buy more because of the craftsmanship (but do not expect to ever need another based of quality and performance of my initial purchase).

Blade was a gift and is very well made. Shipping does take a while but that seems to be the "new normal" for everything.
