Frequently Asked Questions
What is hand forging?
Hand forging involves heating steel to working temperature and shaping it with hammer blows on an anvil. The swordsmith controls blade geometry, thickness, and taper through individual hammer strikes.
How does hand forging affect the blade?
Hand forging creates unique steel grain structure, natural blade geometry variations, and surface character that distinguish each blade. The process also refines the steel’s crystalline structure.
Can I see forging evidence on the finished blade?
Subtle geometry variations, natural surface textures, and hand-filed tang marks provide visible evidence of individual forging. The hand-forged character persists through final polishing.
Are all your wakizashi hand forged?
Yes. All our companion swords are individually forged by hand. This collection highlights the forging process for collectors who value the craft.

This sword was 1 of 3 items that I ordered. This item by itself is wonderful, however, the scabbard is VERY tight on the blade. I worry about the edge being dulled from sheathing and unsheathing the sword. Otherwise, the craftsmanship is great.
